Common questions
Why does the alarm ring even when my phone is on Silent or in Focus?
Five More Minutes is built on Apple's AlarmKit (iOS 26), so alarms ring through the system alarm infrastructure — the same mechanism the built-in Clock app uses — rather than a regular notification. That's what lets it break through Silent mode and Focus.
What happens if I can't solve the puzzle?
The alarm keeps ringing. There's no way to force-dismiss it from the lock screen — you solve the puzzle, or you snooze. Either way, the point is you're awake enough to do one of them.
How does snooze escalation work?
Each time you snooze, the next puzzle gets a little harder. Solve one cleanly and your streak builds; miss one and the streak resets. It's designed to push back against groggy snoozing rather than reward it.
Why does the app need Motion & Fitness access?
Only for the motion puzzle, which asks you to take a number of steps to dismiss the alarm. Step counts are read live, checked against the puzzle's target, and discarded — they're never saved or sent anywhere. You're only asked for this permission the first time you enable a motion puzzle on an alarm.
What's the difference between free and Premium?
Free gives you 2 active alarms, easy difficulty, and the default alarm sound. Premium unlocks unlimited alarms, hard difficulty, and custom sounds and themes. Premium is available as a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase — all through Apple's StoreKit.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open the Premium screen and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel from there. The lifetime purchase is a one-time unlock with nothing to cancel.
My alarm didn't go off. What do I do?
First check that the alarm is still toggled on and that Five More Minutes has permission to schedule alarms (Settings → Notifications, or Settings → Five More Minutes). If it happens again, email us with your device, iOS version, and the alarm's settings — that's usually enough for us to reproduce it.
