Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 September 2026

Luma ("the app") is developed by Mark Wong ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.

What We Collect

Luma has no accounts and no sign-in.

We don't operate a server for your photos or edits — everything you make stays on your device. The one exception is purchase handling, covered below.

Photos

🖼️
Photo Library

Picking a photo to edit goes through Apple's system photo picker, so Luma is never given access to your library as a whole — only the photo you choose is handed to it. Editing happens entirely on your device.

When you export, Luma saves the result to your camera roll using add-only Photos permission: it can add new photos but cannot read, browse or delete anything already in your library.

By default, exported photos have EXIF metadata (including GPS location) stripped before they're saved. Your original photo is copied into the app so it can be edited later, and stays on your device — it is never uploaded anywhere. Deleting a project, or deleting the app, removes it.

Projects

Your edits are auto-saved as projects on your device so you can pick them back up from the Home screen. This uses Apple's on-device storage frameworks — nothing is synced to a server we operate.

In-App Purchases

Luma's Pro subscription and lifetime unlock are handled by RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, on top of Apple's App Store billing. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user ID and your purchase/subscription receipt data in order to verify what you own and keep your entitlement in sync — it does not receive your photos, edits, name, or Apple ID. We never see your payment details; that's handled by Apple. "Restore Purchases" asks Apple and RevenueCat which entitlements you already have.

Third-Party Services

Aside from RevenueCat (used only for purchases, above), Luma contains no analytics and no advertising SDKs.

Children

Luma is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them. As described above, the only data leaving your device is the minimum RevenueCat needs to process a purchase.

Your Data Rights

Your photos and edits never leave your device, so there is nothing for us to hand over or delete on that front — reset a project or delete the app to remove them locally. For purchase-related data held by RevenueCat, see their privacy policy for how to request access or deletion.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
